Stay Focused Staying focused is one of the most important things to remember when you're conducting a literature review. As you search for relevant information for your review you will undoubtedly find books and/or research papers that are not related to the subject you're researching, but are nevertheless interesting. It can be easy to lose your way - you begin searching for information on the effects of climate change on the timing of flower production, then come across a paper researching the effects of climate change on polar bear distribution that leads to a paper about the migration pattern of polar bears from 1900-2000. By the time you've read that paper you've completely forgotten what you were searching for in the first place and where you were looking! We've all done it, but how can we stay focused on our particular research question? In the same way you'd plan an essay, a literature review should be planned. |
