Distribution The distribution is a graphical representation of the frequency. When your data are normally distributed, the mean, median and mode are the same. The plotted graph should be bell-shaped with a peak in the middle of the graph and symmetrical tails. If you get an off-centre bell, or one with one tail longer than the other, this is known as a skewed distribution. Your statistical analysis should produce several graphs, although depending on what software you're using you may have to specify the graphs you want. The frequency distribution graph will indicate whether your data are normally distributed or skewed. The appropriateness of your statistical analysis will depend on your data being normally distributed (parametric). If your data are skewed (non-parametric), you can transform your data or use a non-parametric analysis. |
