Factors to Consider with PlatesThere are several important factors to consider when you're using plates, including: Size - is it large enough for you to see the important aspects but small enough for the quality to remain? Scale - it can be beneficial to have an indication on the scale of your plate either by adding a 'known' reference item in eg a 10p piece or a pencil, or by adding a scale to the plate. Resolution - is your plate of high enough resolution to allow interpretation? Lighting - is the photograph too light or too dark? Background - does the background detract from the focal point of the plate? An even-coloured background is best, with little distraction Direction - is it clear to the readers what they're looking at or does the plate need annotation eg arrows and labels? |
