Open fieldAn experiment has been conducted to determine the relationship between soil nitrogen concentration and plant community productivity (biomass). Twenty sites were identified and samples were taken to determine the soil nitrogen concentration and the associated biomass. The results are presented in an Excel spreadsheet. Using the data, can you identify:

  • explanatory variable
  • response variable
  • if the explanatory and response variables are continuous or discrete
  • the equation that represents the relationship between nitrogen and biomass.
