Formatting Your Writing

Pencil and paperDepending on the way in which you're presenting your work, you may have anything from no to full control over how you format it. If you can't change the format of your document, you can make it more readable by using paragraphs and section headings appropriately. If you have more freedom, formatting your text can make your work stand out from others as well as enhancing its professional appearance. For example, you could change a number of things, including:

  • font
  • font size
  • justification
  • margins
  • header/footer.

Before you decide on or alter any of the above, check to see if you've been given any instructions that you must adhere to.
