StructureIf you're designing a poster for a conference, you may be given specific guidelines on the structure, size and format of your poster, so it's always worth checking for these before you get started. In general, posters can be structured in either portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) formats. For conferences, check the dimensions of the available poster boards in advance to see if a landscape format will fit. Your poster should read easily, with sections following on logically from one to the next. We naturally read from top to bottom and left to right and if you deviate from this structure your audience may become disorientated. Figures and photographs are great for breaking up sections of text and interesting - but relevant - photographs carefully placed can attract an audience to your poster.
