| Example of an Introduction: Sustainability of Cod Reserves |
 |
The above introduction exhibits the following characteristics:
- Title should stand out from the rest of the text - bold or larger text
- Good use of bullet points with only a few descriptive words
- Make sure you're not just reading the sentences from the slide. Might be better to stick with the three main points and talk around them
- Good contrast between the background and text colour. Check what it looks like on a projector screen - the black background may be a bit overpowering.

 |
The above introduction exhibits the following characteristics:
- Need to reference the source of the graph
- Excellent use of a graph to demonstrate trends
- Check that the graph can be read and deciphered from the back of the room
- Could increase the size of the graph to fit the whole slide.
|
 |
The above introduction exhibits the following characteristics:
- Title could be nearer the top of the page - there's a lot of free space
- Who/What is ICES? Write the full name out followed by the acronym the first time it's used - don't assume your audience has the same level of knowledge you do
- Would have been nice to have finished with an indication on a bullet point about the current situation, after the ICES recommendations.
